Valle Del Sol Golden Retriever Club – “Fun Match”

Where:   Paradise Valley Park  (40th Street between Union Hills and Bell)

When:    Saturday, January 15th, starting at 9:00am 

Have you ever watched animal planet and wondered, “How do they get their dogs to DO that!?’  Now, you can see it live!   Join Valley dog lovers of all kinds for an exciting day of obedience trials!  Watch dogs compete in Rally Obedience, (Rally has some characteristics of rally sports car racing, dog agility, and traditional obedience – all combined into a new fun sport.)  watch dogs test for Canine Good Citizen,) and Therapy Dogs International.  Pre-Novice, Novice, Open, and Utility.

Anthem Adopt-A-Thon

Where:  Del Webb Community Park, Anthem (5 miles No. of Carefree Highway, from I-17, Anthem Way Exit)

When:    Saturday, February 26, 2005 (10A -4P)

Come and visit with rescue groups from all over the Valley for this very exciting fundraising, education & adoption event sponsored by Pets 911 Auxiliary.  Come and learn about all types of breeds and rescue groups. We’ll be on hand with Golden Goodies and a chance to meet several of our available Goldens. (Please be aware that AZGRC does not conduct on-site adoptions).

Parade of Rescue 

Presented by: Valle Del Sol Golden Retriever Club -in conjunction w/ Fiesta Cluster Dog Show

Where:   West World in Scottsdale (Off the 101, just north of Frank Lloyd Wright)

When:     March 3rd,  Noon.

Join us at noon on March 3rd for the “Parade Of Rescue” at the annual Fiesta Cluster Dog Show.  Rescued dogs of all kinds strut their stuff, including Golden Retrievers rescued from AZGRC.  Come cheer on our rescued friends,  and then stay to watch over 4000 purebred dogs, consisting of 150 AKC recognized breeds, compete for National titles in Conformation, Obedience, and Agility.   The show lasts thru the weekend and is free to the public.  (Parking fee may apply.)  If you’d like to see the Golden Retrievers compete in the dog show, come early on Thursday!

St. Francis Renewal Adopt-A-Thon at the Franciscan Renewal Center

Presented by: Pets 911 Auxiliary and AZGRC

Where:   5801 E. Lincoln Dr. in Scottsdale

When:     March 6th,  9:00am – 4:00pm

Join us for a wonderful day of animal rescue  (dogs, cats, rabbits, and yes – even rats.)  Come learn everything there is to know about animal rescue!   Venders and rescue groups of all kinds will be on hand with information, displays, booths, and even “on site” adoptions!  Pets are welcome, and even encouraged – with a charity dog wash from 11a-3p,) food, and more!    While you’re there, come see us at the AZGRC booth!   See you then!  (Please be aware that AZGRC does not conduct on-site adoptions).

Baby And Children’s Expo

Presented by: Pets 911 Auxiliary

Where:   State Fairgrounds, in Phoenix

When:     March 12th & 13th.

Bring the entire family to the Baby and Children’s expo, featuring products and services for children ages pre-birth through pre-teen.  Among the hundreds of vendors, our friends at Pets911 will be on hand for these two days to showcase the wonderful world of adoption.  Your family can learn about the adoption process, the truths and myths about adopted animals, how to care for your pets, and much more!  While you’re there, see children’s and maternity clothing modeled on the fashion stage, learn about fun family vacations and family camps, experience performances by area performing arts groups and much more.   Look for the contests and prizes, exhibits, games, and demonstrations of all kinds!

AZGRC Cave Creek Hike and Picnic

Where:   Cave Creek Regional Park (North to Carefree Highway, North on 32nd street)

When:     Saturday March19th,  10am – 2pm.

$5.00 park entrance feeSeveral times a year, we organize smaller get-togethers, where our members are invited to join us on “Golden Hikes” through beautiful Arizona back-country, “Golden Frolics” at area dog-parks, and more!  We love to give our members the opportunity to get out and find new ways to enjoy their Golden Retrievers.

Our March gathering is at Cave Creek Regional Park. Let’s go hiking!  We can burn off some of those valentine calories, exercise our Goldens, and get out and enjoy the beautiful Arizona landscape before it gets too hot!   We’ll be set up at one of the Ramadas (TBA) with maps and some Golden Goodies.  Bring a sack lunch and hang out before you explore any of the beautiful Cave Creek hiking trails.

AZGRC SWIMFEST

Getting out and about with our pets gets harder as the days get hotter.   Every year, AZGRC gives its members the opportunity to get-together during those dog-days of summer.  Bring your dogs, their favorite toys, and a towel and join us for fun, food, raffles, prizes, golden-goodies and more!   More-so, give your dogs a chance to beat the heat.  Can you imagine 60 Golden Retrievers jumping into a pool?  It’s a must see!

BOWL-A-RAMA FUNDRAISER

Presented by: Pets 911 Auxiliary and AZGRC

Where:   32nd and Thunderbird right off the 51

When:     Augustl 6th, Time: TBA

Join AZGRC, celebrities, and area rescue groups as we bowl for bucks!   This is quickly becoming the Valley’s biggest and most entertaining fundraiser.   Sponsors from all over Arizona donate rescue money based on all of our performances on this exciting day.  In a nutshell?  Volunteers from rescue groups of all kinds dress crazy, get crazy, and bowl crazy – for a good cause!   We have a chance to raise money for creativity, enthusiasm, and  more!  Help us get noticed! 

– We need bowlers!  Are you a bowler?  Average 280?  Or 40?  Doesn’t matter, we need you! 

– Help us come up with a cheer!  The rescue group with the most interesting cheer wins!

– Help us come up with a bowling costume!  The group with the most unique / elaborate costume wins!

– We need a cheering section!  The group with the loudest cheering section wins!

PAWS in the Park

Where:    Location: Desert Vista Park in Fountain Hills

When:     September 17th, from 11am – 4:30pm.

PAWS in the Park gives several animal adoption agencies a chance to get together and showcase their organizations and animals.  Come out and let your dogs play, meet rescue groups from all over the Valley, and maybe go home with a new dog!  (Although AZGRC does not offer onsite adoptions, many agencies will have dogs available and ready for a new home.)

5th Annual AZGRC Gotcha Day

Mark your calendars for our 5th annual Gotcha Day, a celebration of our rescued Golden Retrievers and their families!  Come and play with up to 100 other rescued Goldens!  Enjoy a huge pot-luck breakfast, play Golden Games, meet other AZGRC members, volunteers, and Golden lovers, and just sit back and watch.   We’ll have raffles and Golden Goodies to sell.  Stay tuned for all the details!
