My name is Abbey and I need a special family that will
be patient but most importantly provide me a calm,
structured life. I thrive on knowing the rules of the
house and the rules being applied consistently by
everyone in my home.
I started my life in a backyard with two senior Golden
Retrievers. I had no guidance so when I acted like a
puppy with the older dogs; I was chained to a kennel so
I would not bother them. In my critical formative age, I
was not exposed to a lot of the things necessary to
build my confidence so now everything seems scary to me.
I love being around people so much that I can be overly
enthusiastic in demanding attention. I am afraid
of being left alone so I need someone that is willing to
slowly work with me on realizing they are really coming
back.
I am a very smart dog and definitely willing to learn. I
have started clicker training and once I understand what
you are asking of me, I am a whiz. Some of my problem is
I am too smart, mainly street smart.
My ideal home is one with no children or cats. I may
like another dog if it was older and mellow but would
definitely need an introduction. I cannot be crated as
this is terrifying to me and I will injure myself trying
to get out of a confined space so I prefer someone that
is home most of the time.
If you think you are willing to
work with me, please email

* Our
policy is that we will not place Golden Retrievers under
the age of 3 with families that have children that are 3
or less years of age. Young Golden Retrievers can be
very excitable around young children, so we recommend
older Goldens for families with very young children.
