Why do so many pure bred golden retrievers need rescuing?  Some are owner turn-ins: a family is moving; child is allergic; owner underestimates the time and commitment to properly train and socialize a puppy; or they can no longer afford to care for the animal. Some find themselves in the county shelters, either brought in as strays, or abandoned by their owners.  No matter what the reason, thousands of Arizona golden retrievers find themselves homeless each year.   That's thousand of goldens who need you.  Please support your local rescue and adopt.

Why should I rescue?
Pet overpopulation continues to plague the U.S. today. The statistics are staggering.  Nationally, 8-12 million dogs and cats are euthanized each year.  Nearly 30,000 a year in Maricopa county alone.  In order to control the pet population, over 80% of breeders would have to stop.  Please don't buy your next pet from a breeder.  There are plenty of loveable pets who would die for a home.  Learn more at Maricopa County Animal Care and Control.

Living with my rescued dog
There is nothing like the feeling of saving a life.  Imagine how your pet must feel?  There is no question that the bond between a rescued pet and his owner is a strong one.  But, whether it's one small bag, or a a full set - almost every rescued dog comes home with baggage.  Luckily, any problem you run into with your rescued pet can be cured with time.   To learn more about golden retrievers, click here.
