Hi, my name is Nigel and I’m “Mr. January” for the 2009
AZGRC calendar. When you look at my pictures, you’ll
see I just LOVE the outdoors, especially when the ground
is covered with frozen water. It’s almost as good as
being in the water!
But I wasn’t always able to run and play. You see, when
I was just a pup (that’s one year in human life), I had
lots of pain in my back legs. The doctors called it hip
dysplasia. It hurt so bad that I just wanted to sit
around and be as still as I could be. But the wonderful
AZGRC people who rescued me said that wasn’t how
Golden Retrievers were supposed to act, so they arranged
for me to get new hips. After I got better, I was able
to do all the things I just dreamed about, like chasing
balls, cats, and my foster brother’s tail! Pretty soon,
a family came along to look me over and guess what?!
They fell in love with me and I fell in love with them!
Today, I go hiking all the time with my forever
family. Thanks to AZGRC, I found out what being a
Golden is all about! It sure is wonderful!
